The history of Revol is first and foremost the story of men and women, and of a tradition handed down through generations. Since 1768, when the firm was founded, nine generations have taken up the reins of the family dinnerware company.

Today REVOL is represented by Olivier Passot, who, in June 2007, took over from his father Bertrand, who had managed the company for 27 years. Innovation is at the heart of the dinnerware company’s strategy, with the accent placed on research and development. Design began to take a more important place, and work on colour led to new enamels making their appearance in the company’s collections. Olivier’s aim was to preserve the company’s DNA, to build a strong brand, while continuing to expand throughout the world.
Hand-moulded, then fired at very high temperatures in the Revol plant in Saint-Uze (Drôme), each item is tested before it goes on sale. The men and women who work there are true artisans. They each go out of their way to ensure that every dinner plate and every coffee cup will one day meet all the needs of the chef or customer who is expected only the best quality.
In its permanent striving towards innovation and creativity, Revol has adopted modern and highly efficient production tools. The essential elements from which culinary porcelain is made are all carefully selected: clay, quartz, feldspar and kaolin are brought together in a unique composition called barbotine. Revol is still the only culinary porcelain maker in France – and one of the few in the world – to produce its own basic clay, making it easier for us to adapt it to our manufacturing procedure.
